After many happy years working as a freelance illustrator for London's top illustration agency, Julie is now concentrating mainly on her own paintings.

She is passionate about sketching on location, particularly in Cumbria, Cheshire and anywhere in Italy, often incorporating papers, tickets and maps from her journeys into her sketches & the finished works in her studio.

Her highly original paintings and prints, like her books, are now finding their way around the world, from Ambleside to Australia, from New York to New Zealand.

In the Shippon Gallery at Kurt Schwitter's MERZ BARN near Elterwater, Cumbria. 11th - 26th September 2014, with a reception on Sunday 14th at 2pm (wine & nibbles).

This is a fantastic opportunity to visit the famous Merz Barn, (which is not open to the public very often) where Schwitters worked as a refugee after fleeing Germany in 1940, until his death here in the Lake District in 1948. The exhibition will be open 10 - 5.30 every day. The entrance is through the green gates directly opposite the entrance to the Langdale Estate, LA22 9JD, on the road from Elterwater to Chapel Stile.
